Onyx is building a virtual immune system for faster and safer development of precision medicines. Our research studies deeply profile autoimmune diseases by vertically integrating multiomics data with longitudinal patient records.

We are exploring future models that may allow members to share in value generated from research using their data. AI lets us model biology, but it only works because of the data that our members contribute.
How we work.
01. Members join research studies by sharing health records and completing study visits (e.g. blood sample).
02. Life scientists and AI researchers analyze samples and health records to develop new medicines.
03. Members receive fair cash compensation, educational health information, and updates on research progress.
Who's behind Onyx.
Onyx is a research collective based in Berkeley, California. Our founders hold PhDs from UC Berkeley with backgrounds in computational biology and AI. The study is IRB-approved, meaning an independent ethics board oversees how the research is conducted and how member data is handled.

Members enrolled in a study receive cash compensation for completing study visits (e.g. blood sample), as well as for participating in research interviews.
Samples are processed in our Berkeley lab for advanced laboratory testing and analysis. They are not sold to third parties. Member data is governed by strict privacy protocols.
No. We coordinate a mobile phlebotomy visit at your home — no clinic trip needed.
We're developing a program so that members whose data contributes to research outcomes can share in the revenue generated. More details to come.
This autoimmune study covers a broad range of conditions. Onyx also runs dedicated studies for rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. If you have one of those conditions you may be eligible for both this study and the dedicated one — apply here and we'll route you appropriately.
